The Vlamingii Tang (Naso vlamingii), a marine fish is recommended for larger aquariums. Recognizable for its distinct appearance, this tang features a streamlined body with a prominent protruding snout. Typically reaching sizes of up to 16 to 18 inches, the Vlamingii Tang requires a spacious tank to accommodate its adult size. For that reason, consider purchasing a smaller specimine (juvinile) if your tank is smaller than 200 gallons and plan to find a home for it, when it outgrows your aquarium. These fish can be very friendly! We have 12" one here in one of our 300 gallon farm tanks and we named him "Vincet" in 2020. Vincent lets our owner pet home like a little puppy and it's an enjoyable site to see for our local customers!
Primarily herbivorous, this tang feeds on algae and plant matter but Vincent eats any fish food that we feed to the tank.
Adequate space, hiding spots, and proper filtration contribute to its well-being in a captive environment.
Consider the Vlamingii Tang for larger marine aquariums.
