The "ORA Marine Betta" (also known as the Comet, Calloplesiops altivelis) is a captive-bred ree-safe fish with a black body, white spots and green/turquoise fins that is often kept in marine fish only and reef aquariums.

Appearance and Characteristics:
  • Body: Black body with numerous small white dots. 
     
  • Fins: Green or turquoise with hints of yellow. 
     
  • Eye Spot: A prominent eye-like spot on the dorsal fin, resembling an eel's head, used for predator confusion. 
     
  • Size: Can grow well over 6 inches. 
     
  • Behavior: Shy and reclusive, preferring peaceful tankmates and shaded areas. 
     
  • Habitat: Shallow, tropical coral reef habitats (4-30 meters depth). 
     
  • Diet: Predatory, feeding on small crustaceans and fish. 
     
Aquarium Care:
  • Tank Size:
    While they can grow large, they are shy and may spend a lot of time hiding, so a well-established tank is recommended.
  • Tank Mates:
    Keep with other peaceful fish, avoiding aggressive species that might harass them.
  • Water Conditions:
    Maintain stable water parameters suitable for marine reef environments.
  • Feeding:
    Provide a varied diet of small crustaceans and fish, as they are predators.
  • Decor:
