How does a Nilsen Reactor work?
Nilson reactors are specially designed reactors meant to add “kalkwasser” (a saturated calcium solution) to your tank water. Kalkwasser, also called lime water, has a pH of near 12, so it, in itself, is a caustic substance to our aquarium inhabitants. However, when administered slowly, it will maintain clacium at appropriate levels, and will also help maintain pH at proper levels. Kalkwasser mix is a cheap substance to purchase, and allows calcium addition at a comparaitively lower cost. The counterpoint to this, is that administration has awlays been a tricky matter, always requiring either a labor intensive daily solution administered by “do it yousrelf” adaptations, or “Kalk stirrers”, using old laboratory technologies to mix a chamber.

The Algae Free Hammerhead Float has a cleaning area of 4" x 2" and will turn big cleaning jobs into fast, easy fun. Its floating inner assembly will float to the surface if disengaged for easy retrieval. This cleaning magnet is for use on glass and acrylic aquariums 1/2" and 5/8" thick.

Instructions and Guidelines

Regeneration must be performed in a vessel outside of the aquarium; failure to follow this guideline will result in changes to aquarium water chemistry that can be extremely harmful, if not fatal, to aquarium inhabitants. The solution that is made by following the instructions below has a relatively high pH and should be handled carefully. It is strongly recommended that protective eyewear and rubber gloves be worn as a precautionary measure.
For each 250 ml of resin to be regenerated: In a clean 1-gallon bucket or pail, thoroughly mix 200 g (~¾ cup) RegenerātPHOR with ½ gallon hot tapwater. Regeneration efficiency is directly related to reaction time between the resultant solution and the PhosphātR resin. The ideal set-up for regeneration is to place resin inside a mesh bag (if not already in one) and place the bag inside the mouth of a large funnel; funnel size must be large enough to contain entire bag and contents. Alternately, an empty ½ gallon LDPE plastic milk jug can be used by cutting off the bottom, placing a small hole in the cap, screwing the cap on tightly, turning the jug upside down, and placing the bag of resin inside the large opening. Next, slowly pour the RegenerātPHOR solution through the resin; the size of the hole through which the solution drains will help regulate the time of reaction with the resin (smaller is better). The solution should be discarded once it has been passed through the resin. Then, repeat the basic steps, substituting twice the volume of purified water for the RegenerātPHOR solution used, discarding the water once this step is completed. The PhosphātR resin must be thoroughly rinsed with purified water before resuming use in an aquarium. Once the PhosphātR resin has been rinsed, it is once again ready for use in an aquarium system as instructed on the PhosphātR label.

Notes:

• PhosphātR phosphate-adsorption capability will decrease with each use; once the resin has been regenerated five times, it is essentially exhausted and should be replaced.
• Do not replace PhosphātR resin inside aquarium system following regeneration until it has been rinsed according to instuctions above; failure to do so may impact the pH of the aquarium and cause severe stress to inhabitants.
• Regeneration potential is not increased by recirculating the same solution through the resin for an extended period of time; it is, however, increased if doubling the volume of solution used (e.g., employing 1 gallon of solution rather than ½ gallon for every 250 ml of resin to be regenerated; in this case, simply prepare 1 gallon of solution according to the instructions above).

Caution: Contains carbonate salts; harmful if swallowed. If swallowed: give water, get medical attention. May cause eye or skin irritation. If in eyes, flush with water for 15 minutes, get medical attention. If on skin, wash thoroughly with water. Keep out of reach of children. Not for human consumption.

MICROBE-LIFT/XTreme has been formulated with buffers to help stabilize the treated water's pH and alkalinity (acid-neutralizing capacity). It removes both ammonia and chlorine by chemically reacting with them.

Essential electrolytes not only assist in buffering, but also assist in preventing osmotic shock often caused by new water. MICROBE-LIFT/XTreme detoxifies heavy metals (e.g. copper and lead) by both chelation and precipitation.

Recommendations
Perform regular water changes to keep the alkalinity (acid-neutralizing capacity) and pH stable. Use MICROBE-LIFT/XTreme, at the standard dosage rate, to eliminate and control each measured 1 mg/L, or fraction thereof, of total ammonia (= 0.85 mg/L total ammonia-nitrogen). Use a salicylate (indolphenol) type total ammonia test kit. For dissolved oxygen testing use either a DO meter or an indigo carmine test.

Contraindications
Do not use with permanganate-based or chlorite-based treatments. Nessler's total ammonia tests will give false, high (or off scale) readings. Winkler dissolved oxygen tests will give false, low (or zero) readings. The MICROBE-LIFT/Ammonia test strips are salicylate based and work well with this product.

Shake well before using.

Directions
To fully condition water for (1) new aquariums or ponds, (2) before, after or during water additions, or (3) before adding new fishes, amphibians, invertebrates or plants, add 1 teaspoonful (5 mL) of MICROBE-LIFT/XTreme per 10 gallons (38 L) of water. For larger applications use the following measurements: 1 fl.oz./60 gal. (227 L).

 Directions

Inoculate (spread) MICROBE-LIFT/Gel Filter Cartridge Inoculant directly to your filter cartridge, pads or media. The Gel will absorb into the filter cartridge, pads or media by letting it set for one to two hours before inserting back into the filter. Inoculate (spread) the gel into each corner of the filter cartridge. If your filter cartridge pad is rectangular (like the photo), add 2 more drops in the middle of the cartridge. After insertion, turn off recirculating pump for one to two hours, providing water can maintain adequate oxygenation without circulation for this amount of time.

 Repeat application of MICROBE-LIFT/Gel Filter Cartridge Inoculant each time you clean or replace your filter cartridge, pads or media, when nitrate levels exceed - 0.6 mg/L or as necessary to maintain optimum performance from your filter or skimmer.

 Note: Saltwater slows down bacterial action. For faster results in marine environments apply more gel.

Phosphates become so strongly bonded to the ELIMI-PHOS granules that it will never be released, even after the full absorption capacity of the ELIMI-PHOS is reached.Tropic Marin still recommends periodic water changes in the aquarium to prevent the built up of undesirable compounds. Application and dosage: Place 100 g of Tropic Marin ELIMI-PHOS per 200 liters (53 gallons; 1 Quick & Clean bag contains 100 g of ELIMI-PHOS) of total aquarium system water volume into the tank and position it in the filter or other area of strong water circulation.It is always a good idea to make any changes in your aquarium environment slowly. If the organic load of the aquarium is very high, start with 100 g per 500 liters (135 gallons) of system volume and slowly increase to the above recommended maximum. This will give your more delicate plants and animals a gradual introduction to the positive change in water quality.Tropic Marin ELIMI-PHOS can remain in the aquarium even after its absorption capacity has been reached. When the phosphate level in the aquarium starts to increase again, repeat the above procedure with a new net pouch of Tropic Marin ELIMI-PHOS.To closely monitor the phosphate level in your aquarium, we recommend using Tropic Marin® Phosphate Test Kit which will indicate phosphate levels even as low as 0,05 mg/l.

The Koralia wave module allows the user to install and manage Hydor Koralia pumps, model 12V on Aquatronica systems equipped with controller. This module is used to program the pumps connected via Controller and/or via PC (with the dedicated USB interface) to create Wave or Tide effects that can be dimmered. The versatility of the system means that the user can create many different effects using different pump combinations at different times of the day. Thanks to the possibility to combine the system with a day/night brightness sensor, the pumps are automatically set at minimum speed overnight, thus reducing the wave motion in the aquarium. The ability to manage up to 4 modules simultaneously on the same system (16 Koralia pumps), also allows the user to control a number of aquariums separately and to obtain very powerful effects in very large aquariums.
