About boat rock…don’t rock the boat baby! Have you seen very low prices on live rock recently? There is a reason and it’s not in favor of the Aquarists. A great deal if the Pacific live rock from Fiji, Tonga, and other Pacific Locales is now being brought into the USA by boat through Los Angeles, CA. By the time it gets to LA it’s more dead than alive and then stored in large warehouses in CA, “ready” for delivery to you. Many business are taking this dead, dried out rock that has been sitting in LA warehouses for weeks and sometimes months, packing it in boxes, throwing wet newspaper over it to make the customer think there is life on board and shipping it to you or unsuspecting retailers/internet dealers. It’s deceptive and very misleading to the hobbyist. This is why we only order live rock that is shipped into the USA by International Air Freight. We have found that there are many live rock sellers, carrying this boat rock now so we are asking you to be cautious when buying cheap “live” rock. There is usually a reason why its cheap. Our Promise: Aquarium Specialty won’t sell boated in rock. Most of the rock we sell is less than 48 hours from the Pacific to you. We promise you will see the difference and benefit from it. International air freight costs more but Aquarium Specialty believes in doing it right the 1st time. Therefore we recommend you only buy rock that has been properly handled and sent though international air cargo. Don’t add frustration to your Aquarium experience. The wrong Try to do it right the 1st time.
