The guys over at Neptune Systems have come out with two new additions to their line of high quality aquarium controllers and accessories.  Due in November, the Automatic Feeding System and AI Wireless Module are sure to be fine additions to the Neptune line.

The Neptune Systems Automatic Feeding System (AFS) is a product that has been asked for by our customers for a long time. We have worked to perfect a product that has the following key characteristics:
  • Feeds pellet or flake food in varying amounts
  • Apex can be set so that the AFS will feed from one time to as many times as you like throughout the day
  • Connects via the Apex Aquabus
  • "Stay Dry" system has a sealed food container that extends and retracts for each feeding. This keeps food dry and prevents clumping.
  • The lowest setting feeds just a few grains of pellet food so multiple small feedings are possible
  • Allows for optimal feeding -- small amounts many times a day
  • Feedings can be combined with other operations such as powering off return pumps, skimmer, etc. and then automatically turning them back on after a set amount of time.
  • Adjustable mounting clip extends up to two inches (or velcro can be used) so it will work in almost every aquarium configuration.
  • Includes 110V or 220V power transformer.
  • Includes 10' AquaBus Cable
  • Compatible with the Apex, Apex Lite, and Apex Jr. AquaControllers.
For years the Apex has given owners of the AI Sol lights a great way to co...

Colored Tubing

Thanks to our friends over at Aqua Nerd for allowing us to repost the article they wrote the other day.  We couldn't have said it better so we are reposting it here but please note that the PVC section on our site is still under construction.  We have several more fittings and sizes to add so this is only a partial list of available products at the time when then article was written.  Here's what AquaNerd had to say about our new colored PVC pipes and fittings...

The world of aquarium plumbing isn’t exactly one that we would call exciting. Drab white, and occasionally dark gray, pipes run from one side of the tank to the other, supplying water to crucial points of the filtration system. Unfortunately, that about sums it up. We could mention the headaches caused by planning and executing the layout, or the hassles of tearing apart a functioning system to repair a leak or add in an extra piece of equipment, but that woud just be preaching to the choir. Instead, we’re going to talk about making aquarium plumbing a lot more visually appealing, thanks in part to some rather colorful PVC pipes from Aquarium Specialty.

Unlike painted PVC pieces, which most hobbyists achieve with spray paint, this vibrant PVC is permanently colored all the way through, inside and out. It will not flake or crack, and there’s no risk of contamination from spray paints getting into the water. And best yet, there’s no mess like the one you would likely encounter if you were painting the plumbing.

So what pu...

Versatile LED Fuge Lighting

Enjoy the benefits of natural filtration for your AIO (All-In-One) Aquarium with the versatile MagnaFuge LED. Unlike traditional fuge lighting, the low voltage MagnaFuge utilizes dedicated rare earth neodymium magnets to mount vertically or horizontally behind your AIO, and remains discreetly out of view. Designed for maximum macro algae growth, the MagnaFuge distributes 6500K spectrum evenly with 120 degree optics, and delivers an amazing 120 lumens per watt. Creating a refugium aids in the export of unwanted nutrients such as phosphates and nitrates, while stabilizing pH and oxygen levels througho...

Dosing Directions: 1ml per 60 gallons Polyp Lab Polyp-Booster

We recently brought in a small order of Polyp Lab's new Polyp-Booster product to give it a try.  The 100ml bottle of Polyp-Booster claims that noticeable feeding responses can occur within 30 seconds.  We gave it a go to see if there claims were accurate (at least for us anyhow).  It took a little longer for us, maybe a minute or so but feeding tentacles began to emerge very quickly and stayed out for a long time.  The product appears to be fairly well concentrated and first impression are impressive.  I plan to try using the food in it's current form and also as a soak for LPS foods such as Reef Pearls LPS formula.  Time will tell if this proves to be a growth, overall health and coloration enhancer so the jury is out on that until we have had time to evaluate it's performance.  The bottle doesn't mention this but we would recommend turning off your protein skimmer for about 10-20 minutes to give the corals a chance to feed on Polyp-Booster.  A second shipment arrived yesterday and we now stocking larger quantities both through Aquarium Specialty and Aqua Specialty Wholesale.  Click here for the retail price.

Here's the skinny from the makers of Polyp-Booster.

Polyp Lab Polyp-Booster

Polyp Lab objectives have never been so clear: Research, simplicity and Results. Since our more than humble beginning POLYP LAB have succeeded in providing aquarists with efficient and simple solutions… Now it’s time to give more.

Eshopps Envvy Cell Phone Cases

About the Eshopps Envvy brand and Project

The Envvy brand is all about finding products and converting it to the pet industry. The phone case is Eshopps first project under the new Envvy label and they expect to be launching other items in the near future.  We think it's a great business plan and here's what Louie from Eshopps had to say about it.

"Just think about it, how many Aquarists have smart phones?  The answer, almost everyone!  How many cell phone users have a cell phone case?  The answer, almost everyone.  The iphone 5 case is our first project.  It’s a little risky and out the norm for us but if it works, we might make a lot of hobbyists happy."

The MSRP is only at $19.99, very affordable considering some of the cases at other fine retailers charge charge $30.00-$40.00 for a basic case and all the way up to $65.00 or more for some of the more exotic cases.

Case Features

  • iphone 5
  • Slick & nice design
  • Nice packaging
  • Comes in two styles: the peppermint angelfish and clown fish
  • lightweight and not overly bulky
