Wet Work Reef 924

Wet Work 924 Gallon Reef by Sam Slobusky

We are excited to present Sam Slobusky's latest "Wet Work" project. The design features a custom 924 gallon Elos Systems tank outfitted with a specially fabricated Royal Exclusiv Dreambox with Bubble King filtration.  Sam has tasked Aqua Specialty Wholesale, a divison of Aquarium Specialty with providing the Royal Exclusiv components of his new build.  Over the coming weeks and months we will periodically post updates of the progress of this ambitious new work.  Be sure to check in frequently with the Aquarium Specialty blog to stay up to date on this and other new and interesting developments.  The initial fabrication of the tank and sump is currently in progress in Italy and Germany respectively.  Here's a look at the mockup.

Wet Work 924 Reef

Imagine over 26 running feet of reef. That's a lot of real estate and it is precisely what Reef 924 will offer. At 9.2' long by 4' wide, this walk-around custom Elos display will provide a reefscape that will allow zoned environments to be created with the intricate flow system and modular LED lighting.

The aquarium itself is unique. With absolutely no framing or bracing, the vertical panes are double-laminated 19 mm low-iron glass. The multi-piece exclusive Elos bottom is triple-laminated 19 mm glass. But, what really sets this display apart are the corners. Rather than square, they are all mitered. There is only one other tank like this in the US, owned by Wet Work's Marine Pond 6435 client in Miami Beach.

Elos Laminated & Mitered Glass

Typically, island displays such as this place the overflow in the center. For several reasons, we decided to place it off to one side. This allows a much longer run of reef on one side of it and the creation of a low-flow lagoon environment on the other. We wanted to be able to take as much advantage of the tank's great length as possible.

The stand is also unique in that it is .316 stainless steel. That's surgical stainless steel so it won't rust. Comprised of only six vertical supports it will be enclosed by eight flat black lacquered door panels whose outer surface will be flush with the outer surface of the display's glass panels.

As mentioned above, Royal Exclusiv is manufacturing the 8C Dreambox with a Supermarin 300 + RD3 Skimmer Pump and the Dreambox will be fitted with 80 watt Speedy Red Dragon 3 pumps.  Optional sump and refugium LED lighting along with red seam welds will make this a thing of beauty.
